The beauty found along the Wolf River and often enjoyed by those paddling, walking and bicycling its trails is now available for everyone to enjoy through The Wolf River Conservancy’s new website. Speak has had a long-standing partnership with The Conservancy, having designed their first website nearly five years ago. The Conservancy’s goal for the site was to spread its mission of preservation through education and promotion of the activities and events available along the Wolf. The team at Speak used analytics as a foundation for the new site’s navigation and content, and made sure the site was responsive for phones and tablets.
Using vibrant, full-width imagery truly showcases the spectacular visuals that can be encountered along the waterway. And, each page strives to connect with visitors through the use of these images. A subtle color palette was also incorporated to designate content aimed at different audiences. These colors can be found in key sub pages, in hover states, as well as on calendar items.
One of our favorite treatments of a news and events calendar is found on the Conservancy's website. The warm feel of the background imagery, paired with event specific imagery really captures the eye and encourages visitors to get involved.
For all non-profits, donations are key to continuing the mission of the organization. For this particular website, we incorporated a sidebar nav which features giving to encourage users from any page to consider a donation. The donation form is easily managed from the Capacity platform, and gifts are accessed easily by the admin staff of the Conservancy.
Other key features of the site include activity information, maps, and the Conservancy's Instagram feed.
